A blockchain whose block producers are identified and accountable.
Streembit combines cryptographic verification, locked deposits and legally accountable operators. Validators attest each transaction; an Accountable Node assembles and signs each block. The result is designed for sub-second confirmation without mining.

Three layers of assurance
Cryptographic
Every transaction is checked and signed by an independent validator, and every block by the Accountable Node that produced it. Other nodes verify both before accepting.
Economic
Validators and Accountable Nodes lock SBRIT deposits that are confiscated and burned if they cheat. Honest work earns rewards; dishonesty forfeits them.
Legal
Blocks are verified only by Accountable Nodes with audited assets and named officers. Misconduct answers to ordinary business and criminal law, not just the protocol.
How a transaction is confirmed
Validators attest transactions; Accountable Nodes assemble blocks.
Submit
A transaction enters the mempool with a flat fee of 0.01 SBRIT.
Attest
A validator selected by hash distance checks signature, balance, sequence and deposit coverage, then signs.
Assemble
The Accountable Node verifies the attestation, checks coverage, signs the block and publishes it.
Verify
Every receiving node independently verifies the block before accepting it at the next height.
Contracts between identified parties
Streembit contracts are JavaScript modules run in a sandbox. They propose state changes that the consensus engine validates and applies. Because block producers are identified companies, a contract can be enforced in court as well as on the chain.

Verified individuals and legal entities may join as validators without holding SBRIT or providing an upfront deposit. Validation rewards accumulate in a locked deposit until the 1,000 SBRIT target is reached. Places are offered through Open Calls.

The network's sole native asset has three protocol functions.
Transaction fees
Every transaction pays a flat fee of 0.01 SBRIT, paid to the validator that attested it.
Rewards for protocol work
Scheduled issuance of 100, 75 and 50 SBRIT per hour over three 365-day eras is split equally between block production and transaction validation. Maximum supply: 1,971,001 SBRIT.
Security deposits
Rewards accumulate in locked deposits up to 10,000 SBRIT for Accountable Nodes and 1,000 SBRIT for validators, subject to confiscation and burning for misconduct.
The complete issuance schedule, deposit rules and participation requirements are in the Protocol Specification.
